  • The production of Sacred Writing

After our preliminary task was completed then we bagan the task of making our final piece.
We were given our brief and initially Katy and i were working together and Ellie and another student, however circumstances changed and Katy, Ellie and I ended up working together. This meant we had to think of a whole new concept for our film and then draw up storyboards. After this we discussed locations, shots, camera angles and effects to incorporate in our film. When this was decided we chose our actress and began shooting on set in Oxford. Shooting took about 3 hours and we managed ot complete everything we set out to film. However, after technical difficulties back at school it was decided that we had to re-film our entire piece. We also took this opportunity to incorporate new ideas and shots into the piece to improve it. We decided to use Katy as our actress as it was easier to communicate ideas with her as she was within the group. Filming went well, bar the technical difficulties which seemed to plague us. Editing was quick and simple as we had a reduced number of scene takes because the battery on the camera was running out. We uploaded our sound track and this then meant our piece was complete.

  • Evaluation

My Media Evaluation I am currently experienceing difficulties uploading my final piece, therefore i uploaded my evaluation first.

  • Filming and Editing, plus numerous technical difficulties

Ellie,Katy and I refilmed the office scene again. This time we decided to use Katy as the actress as it would be easier to direct her and easier to contact her to decide filming times. The filming went well, excpet we had a wobbly tripod, but we tried our best.
Last Monday Ellie, Katy and I returned to Oxford to refilm the outdoor scenes. We only had one camera this time as that was all that was available for us to use. The filming started well but when it came to shooting the phone box scene the tripod broke and we we only able to hold the camera in one position with no pans. This was frustrating. However we managed to get the tripod half working again and continued filming. Katy did really well at playing the female in our film, she was very expressive and took direction well.
When it came to filming the WestGate scene we again asked permissiont to film and then set up. However the battery on our camera was running low ad there had been no spares at school so we had shoot the final scenes quickly and couldn't do many takes. We weren't happy doing this though. The overhead shot at the WestGate was not as good as our original shot due to the dodgey tripod but we managed as best we could.
We finished filming at 4pm, just in time as it tipped it down shortly after so we were very lucky to get our filming done.

At school we started editing on Tuesday, this was quite easy as most of the shots we only had one take of due to the battery power.

We'd also already chosen our sound track several weeks back.

We had to do a retake on the scream in the last scene which Ellie then loaded onto the film on Thursday.

Even through the nmerous technical difficulties we've been plagued with, i think we've done a pretty good job and i'm really pleased with what we have produced.

  • Filming

Filming went well on Wednesday and we only have the office scene left to do which we were going to do today but due to unforseen interruptions we were unable to.
Next week we will be editing our filming and constructing it into an opening sequence.

  • Change in the group

Due to the issue of slow productivity it was decided that Katy and I would come together with Ellie and Becca to film. Also the idea that Katy and I had was becoming very complicated and wouldn't be very effective.

We developed a new idea to film and were hoping to film part of the sequence in the Ashmoelon Museum but unfortunately due to building works we were unable to. so yesterday Katy and I walked around Oxford taking some location shots. We were specifically looking for a red phone box and a door way.

The new concept is of a woman who has been asked to retrieve some data from a computer and onto a memory stick, she knows she is being followed and the job is risky. She has not done anything like this before and is very nervous and on edge. She is filmed running through various streets and ends up in a phone box where she is filmed from various angles to give the illusion that she is being watched. The voice on the phone gives her directions to West Gate car park and tells her to find a specific car and the key will be located on the drivers side wheel. She is to get into the car. Then a dark figure will be seen in the back ground and ...

We are planning to film tomorrow and we are using two cameras to enable us to get shots from various angles.DSC00240DSC00241DSC00242DSC00244DSC00243DSC00245DSC00246DSC00247

  • Preliminary task

This is the preliminary task that Katy and I completed in 2008. We planned the filming by creating a story board and we stated which camera angles and shots we would be using. On the day of filming we experienced several technical problems which cut our filming time down considerably. On shoot we changed several of the shots because we felt that they would work better in the sequence.
After filming we uploaded the shoot onto the Apple Mac and used final cut express to edit the clips and then we finished and rendered our project.
